Neutral Panel Glides

Here we feature a games and dining area featuring a neutral pallette of white and beige.
Once again it gives such a clean, crisp finish. This colour is perfect to match in with a range of furniture colours and is such a popular finish that it is great if you are updating or renovating to sell.

Customer P - Beautiful Blue Beachside Living

A regular client of ours has built another beautiful home in Salt Village at Kingscliff.

Customer P was keen to step out of mould and do something different in this media / tv room. The end choice was a crystal blue velvet which really looks fantastic! It's given the room so much character and had an amazing impact on the mood and style of the house.

We are so impressed with the results.

Nightclub Swags and Tails

We recently re-visited a past client of ours to install new swags and tails in their booth area. This is a popular nightclub in Surfers Paradise. They were very pleased with the results.

Swags and Tails

Our amazingly talented team of sewers are capable of making up virtually any window dressing you would like. We are currently fitting out a Surfers Paradise nightclub which has been decadently fitted out in lavish swags and tails and tassle tie backs. Photos will be coming soon. But it reminded me to post some old photos of a few of our favourite swag and tail rooms that we have managed to remember to get photos of.

So warm and friendly and inviting.

Sunscreen Roller Blinds - Natural Light, Reduced Heat and Glare

Another one of our best sellers is our sunscreen roller blinds. We have these on display extensively at our showroom located at 4/40 Township Drive West Burleigh (click on this link to view our address on google maps).

They aren't just on display to promote them - it's because they are just so practical! They keep our office cool even on the hottest days, insulate the room which keeps our heating and cooling bills down, take away the glare on the office computers and allow us to feel less cooped up and we can take in the view outside!

This penthouse beachfront apartment uses sunscreens to reduce heat and glare whilst maintaining that million dollar view

Dark coloured sunscreens tend to give a better view outside compared to light coloured sunscreen roller blinds. A variety of colours are available to match your decor. This client has used warm browns and beiges throughout

Dark coloured sunscreens give the clearest view outside. This client hasn't finished their landscaping but it will be a fantastic view once complete!

The main question we get asked is - can you see inside when standing outside? The answer to that is yes. At night, if you have a light on inside the house, people standing outside will be able to see in. During the day, the results can vary but generally you get a high degree of privacy during the day. So in a nutshell, sunscreen roller blinds allow the natural light in, allow a great view outside, reduce the heat and glare, protect your carpet and furniture and keep your heating and cooling bills down. They are perfect for anywhere you want to enjoy a view outside such as pool or patio areas but where night time privacy isn't an issue. If privacy is a concern you can always add another block out roller and make it into a double roller system where you simply pull down a separate block out roller over the top at night time.

Another beachfront apartment using crisp white sunscreen roller blinds. White is a wonderful colour to match with most other furnishings and also an excellent colour when considering selling your home. Bright, fresh clean and best of all letting in lots of lovely natural light!

Block Out Roller Blinds - How Much Light Do They Block?

Here at A Curtains and Blinds we specialise in the production of roller blinds at our Burleigh Factory. Roller blinds are a brilliant product - and probably our best seller. They are streamline, modern, good on the budget, improve the value of your home if selling and are great at blocking out or filtering the sunlight. But just how much light do they block out? The answer to that question is that yes the blockout fabrics do stop 100% of the light. However, there is always light that filters in around the outside of the blinds. Just how much light comes through is difficult to predict and depends on time of day and the position of the window relative to the sun. In a nutshell, block out roller blinds do suit most people's needs for light control. However, if you are looking to really limit the light and get your room as dark as possible, we highly recommend the use of blockout cord drawn curtains together with a pelmet.

Pictured here is a set of white roller blinds in fabric Dawn Arum block out complete with stainless steel pelmets. Roller blinds can be fit inside or outside the window frame. These rollers in the picture have been fitted outside the window frame. Block out blinds give you 100% privacy, however as you can see in the photograph, light can filter around the outside of the blinds which can create a 'glow' effect. This is an extreme example of the glow effect - however it is a good visual example of what we mean here. The amount of glow is difficult to predict and depends on the positioning of the window and the sun and the time of day.

In this photograph you can see a roller blind set inside the window frame. Roller blinds have small gaps around the outside when set inside the window frame to allow for the brackets to be fit in. The gaps around the outside are standard and are the same no matter what company makes them Australia wide. Here you can see an example of the light that is visible around the small gapping. Next to it you can see a curtain which naturally blocks out more light than the blind.
If you are looking to darken the room significantly we highly recommend the use of curtains with a pelmet as these can extend out past the frame thus reducing the amount of filtered light.

Curtains To Suit Your Personality

Featured below are blockout curtains for a media room in Maison Walnut with matching upholstered pelmets. This creates a wonderfully cosy, dark environment - perfect for enjoying popcorn and a movie. Who needs to go out!

This client also made use of this wonderful velvet fabric for their entertaining area. It oozes personality and really suited the area it was placed in - where the family gathers to play music, games and entertain friends. Matching upholstered pelmets finished off the room perfectly. Why not try something unique that suits the things you love to do too!
